KAWAH Ijen
In a single journey, a porter can mine and cary between 60 and 100Kg of sulfur up the volcanco. That's 5hours mining and a 5km walk.A porter does two trips in a day, six days in a row, and he takes one week's rest
For each day worked he is paid around $10.
The average life expectancy for a Sulfur miner in the Kawah Ijen is 45 years.
HIDENOBU TAKAHASHI
Since he’s 20 years old, Hidenobu Takahashi makes neon signs. After 10y learning this art, he opened his own workshop, Smile Neon, in Yokohama in 2000.

Drew Hash is a former chef who cook for 20 years in Los Angeles and San Francisco. Looking for a new hobby, he started making knifes nine years ago in his basement. He now export his art all over the world.

1000 bamboo villages
The 1000 Bamboo Villages is a program initiated by Arief Rabik with his PT. IndoBamboo, Environmental Bamboo Foundation, and ITTO PD 600/11 Indonesian Bamboo Project, Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
This program is part of the National Strategy and Action Plan for Sustainable Use of Bamboo in Indonesia and for National Campaign.
